Automatically Collected Information

Coarse location data (~1 km accuracy) to sort nearby museums and galleries — used on-device only and not stored on our servers
Usage data such as screens viewed, tours started and completed, and search queries via Firebase Analytics
Device type and operating system version

Provide and maintain the Docent service
Authenticate your account and secure your data
Save your tour progress and preferences

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase services (Authentication, Firestore, and Storage). Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Only you can access your personal data through your authenticated account. Notes are stored locally on your device.

Data Retention

We retain your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, all data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

Docent is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date and posting the new policy in the app.

User-Generated Content License

By uploading photos, reviews, or other content to Docent, you grant Docent a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, and distribute your content within the app, including as visual content for exhibits and venues. You retain ownership of your content and may delete it at any time.
